Field Research Sites

Our main research site is the South Moraine borrow source of the Bennett Dam, near Hudson’s Hope, B.C. We source all of our soil samples from this location, for processing in advance of laboratory testing. It is a kame moraine deposit, from which the majority of the zoned fill material was sourced for construction of the Bennett Dam, one of the highest embankment dams in the world.

Our companion research site is the decommissioned Coursier Dam, near Revelstoke, B.C. We continue to investigate the historic internal erosion incidents that resulted in a decision to decommission the dam in 2003. Our efforts involve forensic interpretation of performance monitoring data, augmented by field observations during site visits.
