Team members of the internal Erosion Research Group, include Professor Jonathan Fannin, Industry Partner Desmond Hartford, as well as UBC Civil Engineering Ph.D. students Sara Ataii and Vinoth Ganapathiraman and M.A.Sc students Anays Antunes and Amy Swerid.
Research
We are engaged in a joint research project with BC Hydro to address the questions of where, and when, internal erosion may occur in an embankment dam. We perform laboratory tests on soil from embankment dams, and compare the findings with observations from the now-decommissioned Coursier Dam and the Bennett Dam.
